Council Chairmen in Benue State have been charged to make judicious use of monies given to them to develop their local areas.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Elder Jerome Tor Shimbe, gave the charge during the Joint Account Allocation held recently at the Conference Hall of the Bureau in Makurdi.
Elder Tor Shimbe while presiding over the first JAAC of the year, 2020 said, the allocation for the month of January has slightly increased and expressed hope that year 2020 would be great for Benue people to seal victories.
The Adviser also urged Caretaker Chairmen to ensure that payment of salaries commences immediately in their various local governments.
He also advised the chairmen to ensure they keep proper records of their financial transactions in line with the present administration’s policy of transparency and accountability.
Responding, the ALGON chairman and chairman, Guma Local Government, Anthony Shawon pledged their loyalty to the Governor and promised on behalf of the chairmen to use the resources available for the overall development of the state.
