A faith based organization, Children Evangelism Ministry International in Nasarawa State has advocated the establishment of Ministry of Children Affairs by both state and federal governments as part of steps towards securing the future of the Nigerian child.
The Coordinator of the organization, Evangelist Ojikpa Yakubu, made the call in Lafia at the end of a three-day conference of leaders of Children Evangelism Ministry International with the theme: “Maintaining the Vision.”
Evangelist Yakubu said the prevailing wave of criminal activities across the country calls for leaders at all levels to take decisive measures towards engaging the Nigerian child in worthwhile ventures.
He charged the Federal Government to enforce laws aimed at protecting the rights of children by initiating programmes that would not only equip them morally but also provide skills for them.
The Guest Speaker at the conference, Pastor Hannatu Chammang, called on participants to imbibe the virtues of love, compassion, patience and sacrifice as exemplified by Jesus Christ in the moral upbringing of children.
Some of the participants who spoke at the event including, Mr Josiah Ishaku and Mrs Bilhatu Offor both said the conference has given them a new direction towards moral and physical upbringing of the children.
Highlight of the conference was the cutting of cake as part of the 40th anniversary celebration of the Children Evangelism Ministry in the world.
