A governorship candidate under the platform of Social Democratic Party, SDP, Mr Hingah Biem, has approached the court in Makurdi to challenge the party and INEC for replacing his name with another candidate, Dr Stephen Hwande
Presenting the motion at the Federal High Court, North Bank, Makurdi, Counsel to the applicant, Mr Oscar Aorabee prayed the Court to issue an order restraining Dr Hwande from parading himself as the SDP governorship candidate in the state pending the determination of the motion on notice.
Mr Aorabee also prayed for an accelerated hearing of the case due to the urgency of the matter, stressing that the facts before the court are straight.
Ruling on the matter, the Presiding Judge, Justice M.O. Olajuwon said the court cannot decide on the case behind the first, second and third respondents and advised that they should be served notices to appear before it.
She therefore, adjourned the case to the 26th November, 2018 for hearing.
